Why do relationships sometimes feel so much harder than they should?
You want a healthy relationship. You want to feel connected, understood, and secure with the people you care about. So why does it sometimes feel like you’re having the same arguments, experiencing the same disappointments, or finding yourself in the same situations over and over again?
Maybe you overthink how someone feels about you, struggle to speak up about what you need, or find yourself doing more than your fair share to keep a relationship together. Maybe you pull away when things get too close, feel uncomfortable relying on other people, or find yourself attracted to people who aren’t fully available.
Or perhaps you and your partner love each other, but you’ve gotten stuck in a cycle of miscommunication, frustration, and feeling misunderstood.
Whatever your situation looks like, it can be exhausting to care so much about your relationships while feeling like something just isn’t working.
It’s not always about finding the right person
Sometimes, the same relationship patterns follow us from one relationship to the next. We might change partners, friends, or circumstances, only to find ourselves experiencing familiar feelings all over again.
Maybe you become anxious when someone pulls away and work harder to get their attention. Maybe you avoid difficult conversations because you don’t want to upset anyone. Maybe you expect yourself to handle everything independently, then feel hurt when other people don’t show up for you in the ways you need.
These patterns aren’t random, and they don’t mean something is wrong with you. Often, they develop from what we’ve learned about love, connection, trust, and what it takes to feel accepted.
But just because a pattern is familiar doesn’t mean it’s working for you.
Relationship therapy gives you the space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, recognize your role in recurring dynamics, and begin making choices that align with the relationships you actually want.
Learn to show up differently in your relationships
My approach to relationship therapy goes beyond telling you to communicate better or set more boundaries. Those things matter, but it’s also important to understand why certain situations feel so difficult in the first place.
Together, we’ll explore how you respond to conflict, how you communicate your needs, and what happens when you feel rejected, misunderstood, or emotionally vulnerable.
We’ll work on recognizing unhealthy patterns, building self-trust, communicating more directly, and setting boundaries without feeling like you’re doing something wrong. You’ll learn how to take responsibility for your part in a relationship without taking responsibility for everything.
And if you’re in a relationship, we’ll work toward understanding each other more clearly, navigating conflict in healthier ways, and creating a stronger sense of connection.
The goal isn’t to become someone who never gets upset or never experiences conflict. It’s to feel more confident navigating those moments without losing yourself or losing sight of the relationship you’re trying to build.
You can love someone and still need something to change
Healthy relationships don’t require you to abandon your needs, constantly prove your worth, or pretend you’re fine when you’re not.
You deserve relationships where you can be honest, feel respected, and show up as yourself. You deserve to feel connected without constantly questioning where you stand. And you deserve to recognize when a relationship is asking you to compromise too much of who you are.
That starts with understanding yourself, not just trying harder to make other people happy.
Whether you’re navigating dating, recurring relationship challenges, family dynamics, or difficulties in your partnership, therapy can help you develop the awareness and skills to build healthier connections. I work with individuals and couples, depending on their needs and goals.
